DAY SEVENTY-THREE

So after one of the worst sleeps, I woke up around 7, and just tried to lie in bed and fall back asleep. But my back was so sore after yesterday's walk that I really couldn't get comfortable, so after awhile I just gave up, and read my book. Then at around 9, we finally decided to get out of bed, eat breakfast, and get our day started. But honestly after yesterday's crazy day my body is fully fucked. I'm so sore in all my joints, and I feel like an old person who's body is failing them. Not a good feeling, ahahah but that's why it was the perfect day for the rain to come, and for us to road trip up the west coast. So for the rest of the day, we just drove all along the coast. We stopped a few times, once for groceries and a few other times to look at rivers, and once just to stretch out our legs. Then at around 6, we reached a little tiny town, but I dont even know if you could call it a town. The town center was just a tavern, a tiny grcoery store, and a few accomodation sites. It's called Haask, and we stopped there in a parking lot to make our dinner. We had the usual: rice, curry with veggies, sweet chilli sauce, and huge amounts of hummus. And because the guys were gobsmacked that I've never seen the movie Good Will Hunting, we decided to watch that while eating. Usually we find a nice picnic table by the water to eat at, but today since it was raining and windy, we ended up eating in the front seating of the car, so we were all cozy and cuddled up together eating dinner while watching a movie. It was snug as can be and so lovely. Actually this entire day of just sitting and driving has been wonderful. I just love these guys so much, I feel so at ease with them, I feel like we've been friends for years. Sometimes we talk about deep insightful heavy topics, sometimes we talk about frivilous crap. Sometimes we say nothing at all and just enjoy being in each others company. Sometimes we read in silence. Sometimes we're belting out tunes and singing our hearts out. Sometimes I nap on Biggi's shoulder. Sometimes I talk about physics with Griff. But no matter what it is, I love it. As Jack Johson says: "It's always better when we're together."

So after dinner, we carried on driving north, but about an hour in, we realized we were running dangerously low on petrol, and to make matters worse we were in the middle of nowhere and had no service whatsoever, so we just hoped and prayed that our campervan would make it to Fox Glacier, and that when we got there we'd be able to find a gas station that was open. And of course, as luck would have it, we made it there just in the knick of time, got gas, and now we've found a great little tucked away spot a few kms out from the city to sleep at. Another day in this stunning country is done. Only ten more days in this campervan, man I'm seriously going to miss it!
